Registered Midwife
I joined Midwifery Services of Haliburton and Bancroft in 2022. Previously, I studied social work and earned a Bachelors Degree in Health Studies at McMaster University in 2012. At this time a spark for social justice was ignited. I focused on understanding the complexities of oppression, mental health, poverty and addictions. Working with street involved youth is what inspired me to pursue midwifery. I found pregnancy to be a powerful time in someone’s life for transformation. In addition to providing emotional support to these young mothers, I decided to learn the medical aspect too, and become a midwife. I then completed a Bachelor of Health Science Degree in Midwifery at McMaster University in 2016. Throughout my midwifery degree I had the opportunity to train in Niagara Falls, Oakville, Hamilton and northern England. I have continued to gain valuable knowledge and experience working as an expanded scope midwife in Hamilton for 5 years.
I love the teaching aspect of midwifery to empower families to be involved in their health care decisions. I am passionate about breastfeeding and committed to improving rates through education and ample support. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, camping, hiking, biking and paddling. Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know you and your growing family.
