An amazing experience

I had an amazing experience with the midwives of Haliburton-Bancroft and I now recommend midwifery care to everyone I know! I had heard positive feedback from friends and family who have used midwives; and so, when I became pregnant myself, I knew it was the route I wanted to take.

I really appreciated the time taken at each appointment to not only thoroughly check you over, but also to get to know you and your goals for pregnancy and delivery. At each appointment the midwives present you with a ton of information and then allow you to decide how you would like to proceed with your prenatal care.

I found having the ability to make my own decisions, rather than just being told, 'this is the way it's done' very empowering. This gave me a lot of confidence moving forward, knowing that the midwives were there to support the choices I made. I wanted to have a labour and delivery that was as natural as possible and to give birth at the hospital. My husband and I were given the space to labour the way that we wanted to, with the midwife right along side us. I didn't have to worry about filling out forms or discussing all of the details I had planned, because she already knew - and I had the confidence that we could do this!

I had an wonderful, tiring, painful, life changing birth experience and wouldn't change a single thing about it.

The postpartum care is perhaps my favourite aspect of midwifery. Having home visits is so helpful and allows you to focus on getting the rest you need while ensuring everything is going well with baby. Being a new mom, I had many questions, so it was great to have the midwives available in the first few weeks to answer them all. I was blessed to have a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby, and am so thankful to have had the capable and caring hands of Lori and Rebecca with me all along the way!
